One of the newer developments that have had a more 'muted'
launch, this development , with its facade of acid etched concrete slabs, common
areas evincing a mix of anodized steel, glass and weathered wooden strips,
throws in good, functional architecture amidst the fashionable finishings.
With balconies looking directly into the pool and the river
(and across into the warehouses and the odd tongkangs still plying the
rivers), the mood is like that of a luxurious, private retreat. The gym and pool
area- fashionably sedate and muted, reminds one of being in a hip boutique hotel
in the best possible sense.
With none of the hyped up marketing campaigns of other
developments, there is less chance of the building ultimately buying into its
own hype. There seems to be none of the increasingly aspirational concept of
purchasing so common with the new launches in the 9/10/11 districts.
The singularly most appealing thing about this development
however, might not be its finishes, the architecture or the price points- there
seems to be a great understanding of context- located in an area surrounded by
commercial warehouses- these repositories that used to serve as godowns for
goods being transported along the river system, one notices that this
development is sited right next to one such existing warehouse; complete with
its own set of graffiti.
